Palestinian and the Vatican City Flags raised at the UNONGuru Maajabu
Flags of the UN non-member observer states – the Holy See and the State of Palestine, were raised at the Flag Walkway at the United Nations Office in Nairobi headquarters today. The official ceremony was in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution adopted on 10 September 2015 regarding the raising of the flags of non-member observer States at the United Nations. Today’s ceremony was the third following New York and Geneva UN headquarters.
Representing the Holy See was Marco Ganci, Deputy Permanent Observer to UNEP and UN Habitat and the State of Palestine was Fares Alqub. Also present at the ceremony were members of Nairobi’s diplomatic community led by ambassadors from the Arab States, led by the Acting Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Group, Mr. Maandi Saad, Algeria’s Envoy and Acting Dean of the Arab Group in Kenya.
