World Humanitarian Day to be commemorated on Thursday 19 August 2010
 18 August 2010,Nairobi - The World Humanitarian Day is marked on 19August every year. The purpose of the Day is to highlight renewed commitment to life-saving relief efforts of UN agencies and their partners. It is also to pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the humanitarian activities. In Kenya, the Day will be observed as UN System-wide celebrations. This year's global theme is: “We Are Humanitarian Aid Workers.” But the local theme is: "We Are Humanitarian Workers: This is why we are committed.” Key events to mark the day include a press briefing, photo exhibition and display of messages from humanitarian worker.
