Launch of the Regional Human Development Report Primer

21 September 2007 –The Regional Technical Workshop on Measuring Human Development was officially opened today, 24th September at Safari Park Hotel Nairobi. The highlight on the opening day was the launch of the Regional Human Development Primer. The Primer follows the lines of the HDR Toolkit, providing guidelines, basic statistical principles, country examples and concrete tools. The primer was launched by Dr Edward Sambili, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Planning and National Development and Alison Kennedy, Head Statistician, HDRO New York (both pictured above).

The Regional Technical Workshop will address issues related to the human development composite indices, use of statistics and indicators, methodological and data challenges, and ultimately to contribute to the ongoing evolution of human development indicators to better capture country-specific situation.
