UNIC Nairobi visits Uganda 2009
School Outreach mission took place between 23 and 27 March 2007. Irene Mwakesi, National Information Officer
addressed students on the work and the structure of the United Nations. The mission covered
one district known as Kabarole in Port Fortal province located in Mid West Uganda. Port Fortal is
318 Km from Kampala. A total of 30 schools were addressed in 13 venues.
The programme ran from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm. The most popular video screened whenever possible was the "Silent Epidemic" on STDs and HIV Aids besides the "United Nations for a better future". Each session ended with question
and answers.
The hosts of the programme were Mr. Emmanuel Kusemererwa a senior Ministry of Education School Supervisor in Kampala,
Mr. Richard Alituha the Principal Education Officer Fort - Portal and Ms. Businge-Rusoke Victoria District Education Officer Kabarole.
