Management training for security supervisors in Nairobi

11 September 2007 - Security and Safety Services supervisors and senior managers at the UN Office at Nairobi took part in a training programme called "360 Degrees Peoples Management Training" last week.

The training programme focused on managerial and leadership skills.

The term "360-degree feedback" refers to the fact that participating managers and those around them at work provide feedback on the manager. In addition to the participating manager, questionnaire respondents usually include the manager's supervisor, peers and directly reporting staff.

The training was well received and will enhance service delivery within the Security and Safety Service and to clients within UNON.

This training is usually reserved for middle and senior managers from the P5 level and above.  It was, however, provided to these senior security supervisors because most of the attendees supervise 12 or more security officers.

The supervisors found the course extremely useful and have committed to implement their newly acquired skills.

A one-day follow-up session will be held in January 2008.
